Garran Lockers completes installation at USW's new sports park

The University of South Wales (USW) has opened a new £15 m (US$21m, €16.9m) state-of-the-art sports facility close to the Pontypridd campus in Rhydyfelin, South Wales.

The new sports park, which provides training equipment and facilities for students and athletes alike, features a strength and conditioning centre, observation galleries, a full size 3G pitch, and changing rooms.

The project was presided over by construction company Kier Construction, who commissioned Garran Lockers to design, manufacture and install bespoke storage lockers and changing room equipment.

The company fitted custom lockers, bench seating, cloakroom units and hookboards in red, white and black, USW’s official colour scheme.

Additionally Garran Lockers supplied and fitted a number of water-resistant lockers in wet areas. The lockers, from Garran’s supreme range lockers, are powder-coated and made from 1.5mm aluminium. They’re designed to prevent rust and corrosion.

Nigel Hayes, site manager at Kier Construction, says: "Lockers and cloakroom equipment have been an important addition to the sports facility."

Steve Savage, sport and business development manager at the University of South Wales, says: "Garran Lockers recently installed bespoke lockers and changing room equipment at our new state-of-the-art sports facility. We are extremely pleased with everything that Garran provided, the lockers look phenomenal and match the high-quality specification that we required."
